In-Office Counseling
Coming in for counseling can feel like a big step, and I want your experience to be as comfortable and stress-free as possible. Here’s what you can expect when you visit my office:
Finding the Office
My office is in the Joy Unlimited Counseling Center conveniently located at 6100 Newport Rd, Portage, MI 49002, just one mile from the Westnedge exit on I-94. When you arrive, you’ll find parking available along the side of the building as well as behind the building. The Joy Unlimited Counseling Center waiting room is found on the second floor towards the rear of the building. If you enter at the rear of the building, go up the stairs and you will find the waiting room immediately to your right. If you enter the front of the building, either use the elevator or go up the stairs and follow the hallway all the way to the back of the building and you will see the waiting room.
When You Arrive
Once inside, make yourself comfortable in the waiting room. When front desk staff are available you can check in with them and they will notify me you arrived. When front desk staff are not available, you can text me directly at (269) 348-0432 to let me know you arrived. Sometimes sessions run a little over. If you have been waiting more than five minutes past your scheduled start time, don’t worry—you haven’t been forgotten. Feel free to notify front desk staff or send me a quick text.
Your Session
Each session is a private, dedicated time for you. We’ll work together in a comfortable, confidential space to focus on the challenges you’re facing and the goals you’d like to move toward. I have a variety of seating options so feel free to choose what is comfortable for you. I like sunshine when we can get it in Michigan but if you are more comfortable with curtains closed please let me know and I will happily accommodate like I have for many others. Feel free to use any of the fidgets during the session.
